Ephesians 6:11.

Many have attempted to expostulate about the armour of God and the components thereof but most have presented nothing more than a formula for the creation of such would-be armour and the contrivances of man as to its usage. Paul enters into the subject by writing, “Finally brethren”. He does not address want-to-bees or prospects but speaks to those who have been chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, who have been predestinated to be conformed to the image of the Son. Therefore the entire subject of the ‘whole armour of God’ begins and ends in the eternal unity of Christ and His people. “Finally brethren, being strengthened IN the Lord and being empowered by His might”. Only those In Him can have His strength according to His might for His people are made willing IN the day of HIS power. The strength of His might is nothing short of the in-dwelling presence of the fulness of Him who spoke and heaven and earth were created. And it is because of this strength that His children are clothed upon with the whole armour of God. This armour is not carnal in any way, shape or form since, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood”. The covering of God is His righteousness pure and white which the bride, the new Jerusalem, was granted to be adorned in as she descended from heaven. It is the imputed righteousness of Jesus the Anointed who was faithful to fulfill all the law in becoming the sin of His people and drinking the cup of the fury of God for those sins.

Paul was not given a new revelation or Word from God. These same sentiments were recorded by the prophet Isaiah when the Spirit called out to those who follow after righteousness, who are called His people and who know, by experience, righteousness. These are they which have part in the eternal love of the new covenant having the Spirit within and the law written upon their hearts. For these the Anointed came forth, “Arise, arise be adorned with your strength o arm of Jehovah.” God looked and saw that there was no man qualified or capable therefore He brought salvation to Himself by His arm, the Branch. Again, “Arise, arise, stand erect o you bringer of peace” And “Arise, arise, be clothed upon with thy strength o Zion, Be clothed upon with thy beautiful garment O ye bringer of peace”. These all point to the resurrection of Christ as He arose from the grave having His bride IN Him. She has indeed been baptised with the same baptism that He was baptised with yet she was protected from the judgment of God, being IN Himas IN the ark, for He is her shield and defender. When He put on His strength and His salvation she put it on also. When He was clothed upon in righteousness it was granted for her to be so adorned.

If man can find the ingredients on this earth to construct the armour of God as the Egyptian task masters told the Israelites to, make brick without straw, then man can go to his closet and take that armour and put it on. Then he can in the power of his Bible study, effective prayer life, maintaining good works and victorious christian living stand and quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. If this be true, then he has no need for God. “I came not to call the righteous to repentance”.
