“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free and be not entangled with the yoke of bondage”.
Being firmly established is something this ever changing world cannot afford as all is vanity and indeed a bondage to our souls. This bondage is connected in the allegory of chapter 4 to Mt. Sinai and Jerusalem which is here below and we have no business being entangled with either. Interestingly it is also connected to Hagar the mother of Ishmael, who, with her children, is in bondage being 500 years prior to the law being given at Mt. Sinai. This bondage then was manifested at Sinai in the handwriting of ordinances but the law of God is eternal. Just as the liberty which is from above and the heavenly Jerusalem who is the mother of us all. This is a liberty of being born free from above and being made free in the redemptive cleansing of the precious blood of the Lamb. This liberty is based upon the truth of God which is from everlasting to everlasting in Christ our Lord who said, “I am the way the truth and the life” and is founded sure and firm in the eternal love of the Father for His elect. The immutability of the Sovereign God has established them in truth, resting upon a sure rock and foundation and they shall know the truth and the truth has made them free.
Beware therefore of the entanglement in the yoke of bondage that pertains to Hagar, Mt. Sinai and the Jerusalem which is below.
Your servant in Christ,
