“Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound. They shall walk, O LORD, in the light of the countenance”.
There is a group of people, distinct from all others, that has been shown favour by the Creator to have specific characteristics and qualities. This group has not been so uniquely endowed because of anything they have done or any potential that they may possess. They have been blessed, made happy, and stand ‘erect’ before Jehovah God because they are His chosen people. They have been chosen in Him from before the foundation of the world, that they should be holy and without blame before Him in love, because they are the seed whom He has loved with an everlasting love. He has loved them because they are one in Him eternally and nothing can separate them from His love. Therefore He has blessed them with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Messiah.
They are not bowed down under a burden of sin, they are not crawling prostrate before Him and they do not stand boastfully before the throne of mercy regaling the wonders of their accomplishments. They stand erect because they have been raised up together with the Lamb who stood as He had been slain from before the foundation of the world and they have overcome the world in Him. They are the congregation of the saints in the land of the living and they have been given ears to hear a most joyful sound. But they do not hear this in ignorance being mesmerized by the beauty of the sound but not understanding the meaning, they have been given to recognize they sound, comprehend the meaning and rejoice in the message. The have been properly outfitted with wisdom and spiritual understanding to know the certain sound of the trumpet of God and to know that it stands for the deliverance of His people from their sin. The words of the song are mercy unto Jehovah and grace to the Headstone and it is played by the Messenger of Jehovah.
This joyful sound of the power of God unto salvation is the gospel of Jesus Christ. All who have been given ears to hear have the Spirit of Jehovah dwelling within and are the sons of God. They have been born from above by the Spirit of God and they walk in the light of the countenance of Jehovah God. They do not need the coaching of Adam to spur them on and they will not hear the voice of a stranger who desires to lead them in the paths of righteousness. They hear the voice of the Shepherd who leads them in the footsteps of the flock which leads to the Shepherds tent. The power of Almighty God has delivered their soul from death and shall deliver their feet from falling that they may walk before Him in the land of the living (Ps. 56:13). The house of the children of promise (Jacob) walk in the light of Jehovah (Is. 2:5) all the days of their lives because they walk in He who is the light of the world (John 8:12).
They walk in the countenance (face) of Jehovah because they are the walls of that city whose builder and maker is God. These walls of that New Jerusalem are always before His face. God has appointed this strong city with salvation for Her walls and fortification. This is that city not made with hands and the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her. He has engraved the names of His people in the palms of His hands (Is. 49:16) and the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it (Rev. 21:24). Because they have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness and now are the light of the Lord they walk as children of light (Eph. 5:8) and have fellowship one with another because the blood of Jesus Christ has washed them and cleansed them from all sin (I John 1:7). This is the common salvation that each and every member of the house of the redeemed has experienced. This is the fellowship of the truth. This is that joyful sound.
The inhabitants of this world reject this because they do not believe being condemned already (John 3:17). The Word of God is not for the children of the seed of the serpent (John 8:43f). All men have not faith (II Thes. 3:2) and the natural man cannot receive it neither can he know it, for it is spiritually discerned (I Cor. 2:14).
This is the ‘cause and effect’ manner of God’s creation. He is the first cause of every cause and His will and purpose are powerfully effectual upon all things. Nothing in creation can act contrary to the design which God has ordered and nothing can fail to accomplish all that He has intended it to do. The heavens declare the glory of the Lord and all the earth shows forth His praise. Man has a time of habitation with sufficient limitations and labours to exercise him in his predestined course of life. God has ordered all things fast and sure. His decree is that all things act according to a nature, everything after its kind, and that every part be conducted in the complete harmony of the whole. His will is performed on earth as it is in heaven.
God has gone up with a joyful sound as He roared out of Zion. Jehovah is exalted with the sound of a trumpet (Ps. 47:5). When He became incarnate and a partaker of flesh and blood, the messenger of the Lord appeared to the shepherds on the hillside and said; “Fear not, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people, because, unto you is born this day in the city David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10). This is the same servant David with whom Jehovah had made the covenant that his seed would be established FOR EVER and his throne would be built up to ALL GENERATIONS (Ps. 89:3f). God gave a promise of peace and caused it to come to pass at His appointed time. This is the Word of God that has gone forth and accomplished all that He has purposed it to do. It is finished because His Word, that became flesh and dwelt among us, did not return unto Him void but was declared to be the Son of God with power and majesty by the resurrection from the dead. And His Bride was with Him.
The voice of God is as a trumpet. The children of Israel heard this voice at Mount Sinai and they feared the sound. The prophets heard the sound of the trump of God as the angel of Jehovah spoke unto them the word of God. God did at sundry times and divers manners speak unto the fathers by this medium but now in the last days He has spoke to His people by His Son (Heb. 1:1). John heard this trumpet when by the Spirit he was in heaven in the Lord’s day. The great sound he heard was the voice, as of a trumpet, the voice of the Son of God (Rev. 1:10). He proclaimed Jehovah’s salvation for His people and His Word of promise to the seven churches. Six trumpets had sounded as “holy men of God spake moved by the Holy Spirit” (II Pt. 1:21), but when that Word became flesh and blood, He, the seventh and last trumpet sounded. He proclaimed that the kingdoms of this world are the kingdoms of the Lord and of His Christ; “and He shall reign FOR EVER AND EVER ” (Rev. 11:15). The Spirit of God was manifested upon all men and the mystery of God was finished as He declared to His servants the prophets (Rev. 10:7). Is this not the same Beloved (David) whose throne was from generation to generation? The same “Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace” whose government and peace abounds, multiplies and increases without end; whose throne is the throne of the Beloved and who has ordered His kingdom with justice and peace FOR EVER (Is. 9:6f)?
Indeed it is! And when in the fulness of time His voice, that trump of God, sounded He caused His people to come forth from their graves, being raised up in Him. He put His Spirit in them and they lived being quickened together with Him and He presented the WHOLE HOUSE OF ISRAEL (Ezk. 37:11) to His Father when He said; “Behold I and the children which thou hast given Me” (Is. 8:18). He, the mouth of Jehovah has spoken in these last days. His people have been brought forth out of confusion and separated from the great whore to be raised up and exalted in Him and seated together with Him in the heavenly places afore prepared for them.
The messenger of Jehovah with the everlasting gospel has proclaimed that the work is finished and has shown forth His salvation to all the world. He preaches this gospel in time to those dwelling on the earth and to every nation and kindred, tongue and people and He adds daily unto His assembly, here in real time, such as have been saved and ordained unto eternal life. This is how His kingdom increases. When it pleases the Father to reveal to His children that He dwells in them, then they know the joyful sound as they walk in the light of His face. They rejoice in the beauty of His holiness and are exalted in His righteousness (Ps. 89:16).
This seed, having eternal life, has been separated from the heavenly abode and planted in the corruption of this earthen vessel afore prepared unto this glory. The seed is incorruptible and cannot sin as it grows in the grace and knowledge of His will being the temple of the Holy Spirit. Since the Lamb stood as it had been slain, representing that He lives, was dead and lives evermore before the foundation of the world, so His Bride, the whole house of Israel, has been quickened together with Him and raised up in newness of life. When the fulness of time was come and God sent forth His Son, born of a woman and made under the law, He manifested the sacrifice of the Lamb and His Bride was with Him in His death, burial and resurrection. Now as each vessel comes into being, here on this earth during the time allotted of the Father for its habitation, so the living seed is implanted and the inner man grows. This creature groans within itself awaiting the manifestation of the sons of God when it shall be delivered from this body of death and raised to be like the Son of God. This ‘adoption’ shall be the final demonstration of the salvation of His people. They are saved in Him, have been baptized into His death and burial and they have been raised up together with Him to be seated with Him in His Father’s throne.
This incorruptible seed is planted in good ground to bring forth the peaceable fruit of righteousness, each man in his order. This fruit is for the edification of the assembly and the perfection of the saints. It is not carnal or temporal. It is the good works that the children have been created in Christ Jesus unto. The Father, who is the husbandman of the vineyard, prunes these branches in order that they bring forth more fruit and when they have finished producing the fruit, He takes them away. He does not take the stalks or the dirt they are planted in as they are changed to be like Him. The corruption and mortality are swallowed up in incorruption and immortality and the image of the earthly is no more. Herein is hope.
Only the people who have experienced the salvation of Jehovah truly know the joyful sound. They alone can sing that joyful noise unto the Rock of their salvation. Others may do lip service to the King but only the nations who have been saved shall walk in the light of New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:24). These children of promise walk before His face, in the light of His countenance, as they enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Adam cannot do this. His people hear His voice and they follow Him. Adam is deaf to that still small voice and lusts after the things of this world. Adam truly knows that Jehovah is God and he trembles before Him. The children of the King know by experience that they are His people and He is their God.
All things written by the prophets have been fulfilled. The Word, which is our Lord Jesus Christ, has gone forth out of His mouth and has not returned unto Him void. He has accomplished that which pleases the Father and was prosperous whereto He was sent (Is. 55:11). He said “It is finished” and He is seated at the right hand of the Father.
