Psalm 93:1

“The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself. The world also is established that it cannot be moved” (KJV 1611)

“The Lord is King and hath put on glorious apparel; the Lord hath put on His apparel and girded Himself of strength, He hath made the round world so sure that it cannot be moved” (Coverdale 1537)

No words can be of more comfort to the child of grace in the midst of this present evil generation than, Jehovah reigns! Only one who has been born from above truly understands the extent of the vanity of this world and the weaknesses of the flesh because they have experienced both. The inner man has a spiritual point of reference that knows true holiness and absolute perfection by all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

The Kingship of Jehovah begins in His eternal being. Since He is ‘Alpha’ and nothing proceeds Him there can be no other power that could influence Him in any of His ways. The High and Lofty One that inhabits eternity is Holy and His name is Holy (Is. 57:15). He is the beginning of all things and without Him nothing exists; “for by Him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, dominions, principalities or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him” (Col 1:16). He took counsel from no one and sought no advice because no one other than He existed in the beginning. All His works proceed from Him, by the power of His own will and for His good pleasure.

He is God and His ways are unique to Himself. He is King before the world was created. He ruled over all before He had spoken existence into being and His Kingdom existed before Adam was made a living being. His Kingdom is not of this world for from everlasting to everlasting He is God and He has an eternal Kingdom. In the beginning was God and nothing else. The Word was with Him with Wisdom and her children. The Lamb stood, as He had been slain, with all His people, redeemed by the blood. The Bride stood in Him chosen precious and true and all the members were written in His book ere the first breath of man was drawn. Atonement had been made before sin had been committed and here in the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of heaven, the subjects of His rule and His dominion, Jehovah reigneth. Then, in the beginning when all these works were complete, He created heaven and earth.

Jehovah is clothed upon in majesty and He has girded Himself in strength. He did not take a garment of royalty from the closet and cover Himself so as to make Himself King. He is King and He is clothed upon in majesty. His adornment is not separate from Himself it is His glorious apparel and the glory that he had before the world began. He laid aside this majestic apparel and became clothed upon in flesh and blood, in the form of a servant, and became obedient unto death. This conduct was in accord with the eternal love which He has for His people whereby they are the desire of His heart and the object of all His actions. He has done all things according to His will and that will has bound Him in His strength to perform all things after the power of that same will.

The fool has asked if God could create a rock so big that He could not lift it up, and the fool may have his query. Nothing exists that God has not desired to do for He works all things after the counsel of His will, therefore He has restricted Himself to the purpose which He has purposed in Himself as the Majesty on High. He has created all things for Himself and by that same power of creation, all things consist, come together as a whole. His has orchestrated the means whereby His children would be forced to go and dwell in the land of Egypt for good. He prospered the land and then raised up and withheld the knowledge of Joseph from Pharaoh. He put fear in his heart against His chosen people and caused Pharaoh to oppress them in servitude. He purposed to raise up Pharaoh to show forth the power of His will and free His people from bondage.

He is God and there is no other. He has formed the light and shaped the darkness. He created good and evil and has proclaimed, “I Jehovah do all these”. He created the crooked serpent and endowed him with beauty and subtlety. He set him in the garden of God as the most beautiful of all His creatures and that very beauty was the pride in his heart that lifted him up to lust after God to be like the Most High. He created this, ordered every step he should take and assigned him a minion of evil children for good. He empowered that piercing serpent to beguile Eve and tempt her in the garden and He caused the way of the serpent to prosper. Jehovah God created all things and called everything He had created exceedingly good.

Now some will say that God superintends over the affairs of man. They insinuate that He sits in child-like fashion observing the ant farm and intervening from time to time as He sees best. This is not a ruling King.

Others will say that He oversees and overrules man’s deeds. This would infer that God reviews the up-coming conduct that man intends to do and decides if He can use it for His good pleasure or ‘work’ it into His plans. If all is agreeable, then God ‘allows’ or ‘permits’ these events to unfold. This is not a sovereign King that is ruling according to the good pleasure of His will.

Some will also say that God has looked forward at the actions of man and, knowing what shall be done, has fashioned His will accordingly. This means that God reacts to the actions of another. But wait! Where did the power come from that enables these events to come to pass? And by whose authority have they been accomplished? Is there another source of power other than Jehovah God? Is there something that exists that HE did not create by Himself, through Himself and for Himself? Is there a force that enables matters outside the direct control of God to effect and influence His purpose and plan?

He is the great King over all the earth. He is the first cause of every cause and nothing comes to pass but by the power of His will. His Word has gone forth and where the Word of the King is there is the power of the King to perform His Word. His Word has not returned unto Him empty but has accomplished all that He purposed Him to do and He has finished it in righteousness. From the beginning of time He has proclaimed the end and He has announced the things that are not yet done as though they have already been saying; “My counsel shall stand and I will do all My pleasure” (Is. 46:10). He brought the mighty King to his knees as the beast of the field and revealed the truth to him so that he would; “Bless the most High and praise and honour Him that lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion and His kingdom from generation to generation. And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as NOTHING and he doeth according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth and NONE CAN STAY HIS HAND OR SAY UNTO HIM, WHAT DOEST THOU?” (Dan. 4:34f).

It is with this same power and majesty that He has established the earth so it cannot be moved. No dictator, king, potentate, cooperative effort of Adam or natural occurrence can move this world the minutest of a fraction of an inch from the course that God has decreed it to go. The same power that has girded Him to His love and purpose for His Bride has established this world and causes all events to come together as a whole. Plagues, famines, peril, wars, global warming or the Middle east are part and partial to the works of the King and “the works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure” (PS. 111:7). Most importantly, they all work in harmony, one with another, for good, to them that love God to the called, and that according to His purpose (Rms. 8:28). Every atrocity that is esteemed of man as horrific and heinous was brought to pass by that girded strength of the Lord of the Hosts. Every ‘natural’ catastrophic event accomplishes His good pleasure. He assigns the course of the wind and the waves. He searched out the proper path of the lightning bolt and has ordered the security of the foundations of the earth to shake at their appointed time and man is a helpless observer and passive participant as God does whatsoever His heart has decreed.

When He came forth in the manifestation of the redemption of His people, He demonstrated His faithfulness as He fulfilled all righteousness. The filthy rags of the sin of Joshua were removed and He was adorned with a change or raiment. His faithfulness and His righteousness is the same garment wherewith His Bride has been blessed to be adorned. She is of the King and therefore She is a chosen generation and a royal priesthood (I Pt. 2:9). Each of the sons of God are kings and priests unto their God (Rev. 1:6) because they are the children of the King. They are strangers in this world and they long for their home. They are ambassadors for Messiah in a foreign land and they have been assigned the ministry of reconciliation, to wit Jehovah the King has reconciled the world unto Himself.

Therefore, brethren, as ambassadors of the heavenly Kingdom and by the Word of the King, be not entangled with the yoke of bondage and love not the world neither the things of this world. Leave the affairs of this generation to the inhabitants of the land and seek (strive after and crave) ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Your servant in Christ,
